Of the myriad of Australian Teroldegos I’ve tried (maybe two others?), this would have to be the best. Small sample size aside, it’s a bloody delicious wine. Interesting too!

Blue Poles rarely put a foot wrong and this is another outstanding release. This is their third release of Teroldego and it looks as though it’s here to stay.

It’s deep and rich and mouth-coating in style, but maintains a freshness and balance that is the hallmark of all of Mark Gifford’s wines.

93 points from Gary Walsh “It’s very good. I recommend it unconditionally”, and a must try for true Margaret River fans looking for something slightly left of centre.

What It Tastes Like

“Those nobbly blue ones you find in a box of liquorice all sorts, that’s the main smell, along with meat, hazelnuts, dark chocolate, dark cherries and other manly drawing room kinds of things. Medium to full bodied, all toasted hazelnut rolled in bitter chocolate, shale-like furry tannin and fresh acidity. It’s distinctly Italianate, regardless of it coming from about as far away as you can get from Italy, but never mind: the spirit is true. Finish is rugged, yet precise and ‘minerally’. It’s chunkier, bolder and fleshier than Italian styles, yet delivers the character and charisma of the grape to equal effect. It’s very good. I recommend it unconditionally.” - Gary Walsh
