Such is the way with special sites that the best winemakers find a way to make their mark by enhancing rather than detracting from the uniqueness of the vineyard. This is the pinnacle of Bannockburn Chardonnay. The S.R.H. (so named in honour of late founder Stuart Reginald Hooper) is made exclusively from the twelve oldest rows of Chardonnay on the estate. It is a wine of immense intensity, the most elite of the Bannockburn white wines. The 2012 was a product the Michael Glover era, to put it simply, this is one of Australia's most individual Chardonnays. A single barrel. Full malo. Three years on lees. And yet, the vitality and freshness abound. To drink this wine is to drink the Bannockburn vineyard, it's an experience not to be missed.

What it Tastes Like

"Smells like rock pools, grilled nuts, spice, stone fruits, butter menthols, and all manner of things, but at its core, it’s essentially a savoury style of wine. It has fruit power, a core of firm acidity, buttery flavours mixed with orange, slick and glossy, yet flinty too. It has length and impact. It may split the room, but there’s no denying it’s a wine of personality and wild character." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
