- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
This is the top of the sparkling tree for leading Adelaide Hills producer, The Lane.
This was made in 2009 in honour of Helen Edwards, the matriarch of The Lane’s family owners.
This is made in the traditional method and spent 5 years on lees before being disgorged. The base wine is 100% Chardonnay from a cool, South facing slope on the estate which maintains beautiful structure during its long, slow ripening.
This is a class sparkling that looks to be in the prime of its life. Refined, elegant and classic.
What It Tastes Like
“A sophisticated style that takes full advantage of 10% oak maturation followed by a full 6 years on lees to build mouth filling texture and subtle complexity of ginger nut biscuits and roast almonds. Gentle apple fruit lingers long on a tense finish defined by lees-derived mouth feel, exacerbated by zero dosage. It’s long and structured.” - James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion)

About the Producer
The Lane are forging a reputation as one of the Adelaide Hills’ premier producers, and are all about quality and authenticity with every single berry grown on site at their own vineyard. Their philosophy is to craft premium single vineyard wines that combine the finesse of Europe, the flavour of Australia and the unique characteristics of their vineyard.
The Adelaide Hills may be the most energised wine region in the country. The sense of exploration and creativity amongst the tribe of talented young winemakers in this region is unparralelled. The Hills has become crucible of Australian wine talent, offering an array of varieties, from classics such as Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, to new varieties like Nebbiolo and Grüner Veltliner for the younger generation to play with. Every vintage brings new colour and complexity to the rich wine, food and produce culture of this cool climate region.
Australian Chardonnay is a seductive variety that comes in all shapes and sizes. From the toasty and voluptuous to the lean, flinty and minerally, there is a Chardonnay out there to suit everyone. Australia’s developing prowess with this variety has been marked by the international community with wine writers such as Jancis Robinson marvelling at the outstanding value to be had right across the country. The prestige brands of Margaret River offer wines of deep flavour and power, often crafting fuller-figured Chardonnay of outstanding quality. The cooler-climate wines from the Yarra Valley, Tasmania and the like are more focused and linear, building complexity around a backbone of pristine acidity. Whatever your preference, there is an Australian Chardonnay to enchant all comers.
