About The Wine
Here it is ladies and gents - the first red from 2016 to hit our shelves! And what a great one to kick things off - I give you the Stella Luna!
Farmed using biodynamic principals, this fresh and vibrant (and aptly named) wine is farmed, picked and fermented along with the cycles of the moon. These practices make for “soils and wines which are just so much better” according to viticulturist Suzi Hilder.
A blend of Cinsault and Shiraz from their own vineyard in the Barossa Valley, this is wine is made with a small portion of whole-bunch, without oak and is released young to be drunk young - all the beauty of the vineyard still laid bare for all to see inside the bottle.
What It Tastes Like
Fragrant and fresh, red cherries, spice, perfume just bounces out of the glass. It tastes of newly-picked berries, all chewy and plump. The finish shows some exotic spices to finish. Clean and so, so easy to drink.

Smallfry has been one of the secret weapons of some of the Barossa’s most iconic producers for years. The amazing array of varieties that they grow on their ancient organic and biodynamic vineyards have been coveted by the likes of Peter Schell, Taras Ochota and more recently Barossa up-and-comer Steve Crawford of Frederick Stevenson.
Over the last few years, owners and viticulturists Wayne Aherns and Suzi Hilder have gotten the winemaking bug and ventured out on their own. Their wines are some of the more refreshing and original styles of vino you are likely to find in this historic region. Explore their range with an open mind, this is Barossa 2.0!
The Barossa has a big reputation. Big in every sense of the word. Known for producing blockbusting examples of impenetrable old vine Shiraz and Grenache envied by much of the world, it is a region that should be celebrated as the region that first put Australian wine on the map. Now, with a new generation of winemakers reinventing the region, there’s more than just power in the Barossa’s bag of tricks. With a move toward picking earlier and pulling back on oak maturation, there’s a fresher, more subtle side to Barossa wine which offers plenty to the modern Australian wine lover.
